David & Lizzie

Writer / Producer

Deborah Bartlett

Deb has been writing from a young age. She started off writing poetry and lyrics and as she grew older she moved into short stories. It was obvious that Deb had talent for writing as she always got good grades for her writing at school. Through college and university Deb lost her love for writing, but a playwriting module in her third year of university inspired her to pick up the pen again. She successfully auditioned for the module, and wrote a 50 minute, 1 act play about the British justice system which was inspired by her summons for jury duty aged 20. The module reminded Deb how much she enjoyed writing, and she took it up again in her spare time after graduating from university. Deb was inspired to write David & Lizzie after taking part in a short film written and produced by actor Craig Fox: the film being called The Last Conversation. Deb originally wrote David and Lizzie as a prequel to The Last Conversation and asked Craig Fox to be involved again. He declined the offer but wished Deb all the best in creating a new screenplay about an online conversation. Due to her respect for Craig's film and his writing, Deb rewrote her script to not reference The Last Conversation, whereby creating an entirely new situation with new characters.

"I'm very proud of the script I have written, and it is amazing to see and hear people performing my work.  I look foward to editing and seeing the completed film."  Deb Bartlett

"This project has been a long time in the making. I wrote the script in late February, and I have just put the final touches to the film at the end of August! I have literally just watched the final version of the film and I am so proud of it. Kelly's performance made me cry. Marvin's performance tugged at my heart strings. I am so happy that Kelly and Marvin became involved, and I will always remember them as the first people to perform my writing. Thank you so much for believing in the script, and I hope you are as proud of this film as I am!" Deb Bartlett. 20th Aug 1011.
